Carlos Mendez VIPsAllowed — This changed my mind about non dosé
9/10

I'd tried a couple of non dosé champagnes before and found them too lean and acidic. This one is completely different — generous fruit, layers of flavour, and a finish that just keeps going. Philipponnat clearly know what they're doing with their reserve wines. Already ordered another bottle.

Henrik Larsen VIPsAllowed — Great for food
8/10

Bought this for a seafood dinner we were hosting and it was perfect. The bright acidity cuts right through richer dishes and it's got enough body to stand up to proper food, not just canapés. Everyone commented on it. At 12.5% it's not going to knock you sideways either which is a bonus when you're topping up glasses all evening.

Tomas Rivera VIPsAllowed — Good but not sure it's worth £50
7/10

Had this at a friend's dinner party and thought it was really nice — clean, crisp, with more going on than your average fizz. But when I looked up the price afterwards I was a bit taken aback. For £49 I'd probably just grab a couple bottles of something else. That said, if someone else is buying, I wouldn't say no.
