First Impressions

Gosset Celebris Rose Brut 2008 arrives at £220.00, and at this price point, expectations are rightly elevated. 75cl / 12% - In the past quarter of a century there have been just four vintages of Gosset Celebris Rosé, 1998, 2003, 2007 and now this 2008. This Champagne, of which only 15,000.

France's winemaking heritage needs no introduction, but the best producers continue to find new ways to express their terroir while honouring centuries of tradition. Gosset is a name worth knowing in this context.

On the Nose and Palate

The nose offers lifted nose of fresh strawberry, rose petal, and brioche, with fine chalky undertones. Moving to the palate, the wine is crisp and elegant with fine bubbles carrying flavours of citrus, brioche, and white almond. The finish is lengthy and complex, showing pastry, stone fruit, and a refreshing chalky bite.

Food Pairing and Serving

Equally at home as an aperitif or alongside seafood, sushi, or delicate canapés. Serve at 8-10°C in proper flutes or, better yet, white wine glasses to appreciate the full bouquet.

The Verdict

Gosset Celebris Rose Brut 2008 earns a well-deserved 9 out of 10. This is an exceptional champagne that delivers Chardonnay with genuine conviction and craft. At £220.00, this sits in premium territory, and it delivers the quality to match. Whether you are building a cellar or simply looking for something excellent to drink tonight, this bottle earns its place.

Omar Diallo VIPsAllowed - Anniversary splurge that delivered
9/10

Bought this for our 10th anniversary and wow, it really felt special. The bubbles are incredibly fine and there's this lovely strawberry and brioche thing going on that just works. At £220 it's not something I'd buy every week but for a big occasion it's absolutely worth it.

Yasmine Najjar VIPsAllowed - Beautiful but the price stings a bit

A mate brought this to a dinner party and I was genuinely impressed — really elegant rosé champagne with a long finish that keeps you going back for more. Got those almond and citrus notes the fancy descriptions mention and they're spot on. Would I pay £220 myself though? Probably not when there are solid options at half the price.

Marcus Blackwell VIPsAllowed - Seriously good rosé champers
8/10

Had this at a restaurant and liked it so much I tracked down a bottle. The 2008 vintage has had loads of time to develop and you can tell — there's a toasty, pastry quality alongside the fruit that younger champagnes just don't have. Chalky dry finish keeps it fresh. Not an everyday buy at that price but it's the real deal.

Benjamin Ross VIPsAllowed - Best champagne I've ever had
10/10

The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something properly special for my wife's birthday. I don't know much about champagne beyond knowing what I like, but this is on another level. Creamy, strawberry-ish, and it just lingers forever. She loved it too so money well spent.
