Amazing but hard to justify the price
Look, this is genuinely delicious — burnt caramel, raisins, espresso, all that good stuff. The finish goes on forever. But £85 for a sherry is a tough sell when you can get a solid PX for a third of the price. I'd buy it again for a special occasion but not as a regular thing.
26 March 2026Decent birthday treat
Got this as a birthday present from my sister. It's a lovely rich red, really smooth with good depth to it. The finish hangs around nicely too. I don't know much about Chilean wines but this has made me want to explore more.
26 March 2026Solid tawny port
Had this at a friend's house and liked it enough to grab one myself. Nice dried fruit and orange peel thing going on. It's well balanced and doesn't have that sickly sweetness some ports get. Good but not mind-blowing.
26 March 2026Not what I expected (in a good way)
I'm not really a sherry person but tried this at a tapas place and ordered a bottle online the next day. It's bone dry and kind of nutty and briny — nothing like the sweet sherry my nan drinks at Christmas. Takes a bit of getting used to but I'm into it now.
26 March 2026One of my favourite ports this year
Saw this on a restaurant menu and ordered a glass on a whim — ended up tracking down a bottle the next week. The nose is gorgeous, really clear and focused, and that finish just hangs around making you want to take your time. Absolutely loved it. Already bought a second bottle to put away for next winter.
26 March 2026Really nice port for the money
Picked this up from Majestic on a whim and honestly it's become my go-to after-dinner drink. Really aromatic when you pour it, and it's got this lovely warmth from the 10 years in cask without being heavy. At under £20 it's a proper bargain for tawny port.
25 March 2026Piper Heidsieck doing something cool
I know Piper from their champagne obviously but this Coteaux Champenois blanc de noir is a different beast entirely. Still Pinot Noir from Ay, proper Grand Cru stuff. Layers of fruit that just keep unfolding in the glass. Impressed.
25 March 2026Good not great for the money
I know this is rated highly but honestly at £90 I was expecting to be blown away and I was more like... quietly impressed? It's smooth, well-made, nice long finish. But I've had champagnes at £50 that excited me more. Probably one for collectors who appreciate the subtlety more than I do.
25 March 2026Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's 40th and we were both really impressed. Lovely pink colour, proper fizz, and it just tasted clean and fresh without being too sharp. At £57 it's not cheap but for a special occasion it felt worth every penny. We finished the bottle way too fast.
25 March 2026Really impressed with this
Bought this for a dinner party and it went down a treat. Loads of fruit but not sweet, and it's got this lovely clean finish that keeps you coming back for more. Would definitely buy again.
25 March 2026Converted my beer-drinking husband
Picked this up for our anniversary and even my husband who normally only drinks beer said it was incredible. The rose petal smell when you first pour it is gorgeous. It's got this pastry thing going on in the finish that makes it feel really luxurious. We're already planning to order another bottle.
25 March 2026Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present to myself because I'd heard good things about Nathan Kendall. Only 12% ABV which I liked — you can actually have a couple of glasses without feeling rough. Clean finish that keeps you coming back for more. Would definitely buy again for a special occasion.
25 March 2026Best red I've had in years
The guy at my local wine shop talked me into splashing out on this and I owe him a thank you card. Absolutely stunning — cherry fruit, floral notes, and this mineral quality that I can't stop thinking about. Had it with a slow-cooked beef stew and it was perfect. At 14% it's got some weight to it but never feels heavy.
25 March 2026Not your nan's sherry
I always thought sherry was that sticky sweet stuff at Christmas. This is a completely different thing. Dry, rich, bit of a leathery depth to it. Really sophisticated without being pretentious. Changed my mind about sherry entirely.
25 March 2026Slow sipper, not a gulper
Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately had to know what it was. It's one of those wines where you need to take your time — rush it and you'll miss half of what's going on. The balance between the richness and the acidity keeps it really drinkable despite how complex it is. Already ordered a bottle for myself.
25 March 2026Niepoort does it again
I'm a big fan of Niepoort's ports so wanted to try their still wines. This didn't disappoint — confident fruit, great structure, everything just works together. Had it with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was perfect. Already ordered another couple of bottles.
25 March 2026Decent with tapas
Had this at a Spanish restaurant and ordered a bottle to have at home. It's nice — very saline and dry, works brilliantly with olives and cured meats. On its own it's a bit much though. Good value for a fortified wine at this price.
25 March 2026Christmas present to myself
Treated myself to this after seeing it recommended online. Poured a small glass with some hard cheese and almonds and it was perfect. Everything just works together — fruit, acidity, depth. You can tell 30 years went into making this. A little goes a long way too so the bottle should last.
25 March 2026Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's 40th and we were both really impressed. Lovely bubbles, proper depth to it — not just fizzy wine like some cheaper stuff. The acidity keeps it fresh and interesting all the way through. Would absolutely buy again for a special occasion.
25 March 2026Impressed the in-laws
Picked this up for a family dinner and it went down really well. Even my father-in-law who's fussy about wine said it was excellent. It's got a focused quality to it, like everything's been thought about properly. The finish just sort of trails off gently which I really liked.
