Good not great
Nice enough port with some interesting flavours — I get the dried fruit and there's definitely something savoury and salty in there which is unusual. But for £24 I feel like you can find ports with a bit more going on. The tannins are nice though, stops it being too sweet.
8 December 2025Solid grower Champagne
Guy Méa is one of those small producers that doesn't get enough attention. This has genuine depth through the middle — ripe fruit but not overdone, good acidity keeping it fresh. At £47 it's competing with some big names and honestly holding its own. Really well-made stuff.
16 November 2025Loved it with lamb
We had this with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was brilliant. Firm structure and enough fruit to stand up to the meat without overpowering it. The finish is really clean too, no weird aftertaste. Would definitely buy again.
21 November 2025Surprised how much I liked this
Not usually a sparkling rosé person but picked this up on a whim from Chapel Down. Actually really enjoyed it — there's more going on flavour-wise than I expected. The finish is clean and it just makes you want to keep sipping. Would definitely buy again for a sunny afternoon in the garden.
1 March 2026Good everyday bubbles
Saw this on a restaurant menu and liked it enough to track down a bottle for home. It's a solid extra dry with clean fruit and decent bubbles. Not going to blow your mind but it's reliable and easy drinking. I'd happily have this in the fridge for whenever.
12 November 2025Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's birthday and we were both really impressed. Lovely pink colour in the glass and it smelled amazing straight away — fruity but not sweet if that makes sense. At £48.75 it's not cheap but honestly felt worth it for a special occasion. We finished the bottle way too fast.
12 March 2026Proper Champagne vibes
Saw this on a menu at a wine bar and liked it so much I tracked down a bottle. What I love is that it doesn't taste sugary like some Champagnes — the fruit and the acidity are really nicely balanced. Keeps pulling you back for another sip. Great with some charcuterie on a Friday night.
10 November 2025This stuff is special
I've been getting into sherry lately and this is next level. The fig and roasted almond on the finish just keeps going and going. It's made from Palomino Fino grapes which apparently is the classic sherry grape. Expensive yes but a bottle lasts ages since you pour small measures.
9 March 2026Dinner party hero
Served this at a dinner party as a wildcard and it was the talking point of the night. People kept going back to it. There's a brightness to it that stops it being heavy despite all that richness. The finish is so clean. Already bought another bottle.
31 January 2026This stuff is dangerously drinkable
Picked up a bottle on a whim and absolutely loved it. Really fresh and crisp with a lemony thing going on at the end that keeps you coming back for more. Went brilliantly with some fish and chips weirdly enough. Will be buying again.
8 November 2025Solid champagne, proper stuff
I'm slowly trying to learn more about champagne beyond just grabbing whatever's on offer, and this felt like a step up. You can taste the quality — there's actual layers of fruit and acidity rather than just generic fizz. The finish is really clean too, not harsh at all. Laurent-Perrier clearly know what they're doing.
17 December 2025Went down a treat at the BBQ
Bought three bottles for a bank holiday BBQ and every single one got finished. Really aromatic when you pour it, and it doesn't just taste like strawberry water like some rosés do. Good backbone to it. Will definitely be my go-to summer bottle.
12 April 2026Nice but bit steep
Lovely champagne, don't get me wrong. Clean, structured, proper acidity. But nearly 70 quid is a lot when you can get solid rosé champagne for 40-50. I'd maybe wait for a special occasion rather than cracking this open on a random Tuesday.
10 December 2025Perfect with the cheeseboard
Picked this up for Christmas Eve and it was brilliant with stilton and some dark chocolate. The sweetness is there but it's not sticky sweet if that makes sense — there's a sharpness to it that balances everything out. The Pedro Ximenez and Moscatel blend really works.
29 December 2025Really nice but that price tag stings
Tried this at a restaurant and loved it so much I tracked down a magnum. The redcurrant and strawberry flavours are gorgeous and it's got this chalky dry thing that I really enjoy. But £160 is a lot of money and I'm not sure it's twice as good as an £80 bottle. Would buy again for a big occasion though.
22 March 2026Worth every single penny
Got this as a retirement gift for my dad and we cracked it open at his party. Honestly blown away — the toffee and dried fruit flavours just keep coming and it's so smooth for 20% ABV. Yes it's £195 but for a 40 year old port that tastes this good, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
21 March 2026Best pet nat I've tried
I've been getting into natural wines recently and this is genuinely one of the best pet nats I've had. The nose is so expressive — you can actually smell distinct things rather than just "wine smell." Bought it as a birthday treat for myself and zero regrets. Would absolutely buy again.
30 December 2025Greek wine convert
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop wouldn't stop going on about it. Have to admit he was right — really clean and fresh with proper depth to it. The acidity cuts through nicely and it kept opening up as I was drinking it. At £38 it's not an everyday bottle but I'd absolutely buy it again for a special meal.
19 February 2026Nice but bit steep
Bought this for a dinner party after the guy at the wine shop recommended it. It's good — lovely balance and a clean finish that keeps you coming back. But at £78 I think you can find blanc de blancs that punch just as hard for less. Would have it again if someone else was buying.
16 January 2026Bit pricey for what it is
The wine shop guy recommended this and it's fine, perfectly drinkable fizz with a clean finish. But nearly £25 for a Cremant? I've had comparable stuff from Lidl for half the price. The aromatics are nice though, I'll give it that.
