Carlos Mendez VIPsAllowed — Proper champagne, this
9/10

Picked this up for my wife's birthday and we were both really impressed. No added sugar apparently (brut nature) and you can really tell — it's crisp and clean without being harsh. At £47 it's not cheap but honestly it drinks like something more expensive. Will definitely buy again for special occasions.

Got this recommended by the guy at my local wine shop. It's good, don't get me wrong — lovely mineral quality and the bubbles are fine and persistent. But for nearly fifty quid I expected to be a bit more blown away. I'd probably reach for a decent crémant at half the price most days.

Not gonna lie, I don't know much about champagne beyond the big names, but a friend who's into wine told me to try smaller producers. This Gounel Lassalle is really good — clean, layered, and the finish just lingers in a nice way. At 12.5% it's not too boozy either. Felt fancy drinking it on a random Friday night.
