Thomas Weber VIPsAllowed — Solid champagne, very elegant

The wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something special for Christmas. It's definitely a step up from what I usually drink — there's a hazelnut and honeycomb thing happening that I really liked, and it stays with you for ages after each sip. Took a point off because at this price I expected to be completely blown away, and I was only mostly blown away.

Got this as a gift and shared it with friends over a seafood spread. It's got this lovely brioche bread quality to it alongside really fresh lemon flavours. Everyone kept commenting on how good it was, even the people who normally just drink prosecco. The magnum size meant there was plenty to go round too.

Henrik Larsen VIPsAllowed — Lovely but hard to justify the price

Tried this at a wine bar and it's genuinely brilliant — crisp, nutty, with a long citrusy finish. But £288 for a magnum is a lot when there are great champagnes at half the price. If someone else is buying, absolutely. Out of my own pocket, probably a once-a-year treat.
