Erik Strom VIPsAllowed — Really lovely white
8/10

Picked this up from my local wine shop after the guy behind the counter recommended it. Really fresh and crisp with a nice pear flavour that I wasn't expecting from a Sauvignon Blanc — usually I find them a bit too grassy. Went perfectly with the fish pie I made on Saturday night.

8/10

My partner got me this for my birthday and I'm so glad she did. The pear and apple on the nose are gorgeous and it's got this flinty, almost stony quality that makes it way more interesting than your average supermarket white. 13.5% but doesn't taste boozy at all. Already looking for another bottle.

Valentina Ricci VIPsAllowed — Good but not cheap
7/10

Had this at a friend's dinner party and enjoyed it enough to track down a bottle myself. There's a nice minerally thing going on and the finish is really clean and refreshing. At £26 though, it's firmly in the "treat yourself" category for me — I wouldn't be grabbing it every week.
