First Impressions

Inniskillin Riesling Icewine 2022 arrives at £64.95 for 37.5cl, and at this price point, expectations are rightly elevated. This dessert wine from Inniskillin harvests its Riesling grapes when frozen, to ensure maximum sugar concentration. The outcome is an immensely complex wine, exhibiting notes of pineap

Canada's wine industry is defined by extremes — the harsh winters that make icewine possible demand incredible dedication from the winemakers who brave them. Inniskillin is a name worth knowing in this context.

On the Nose and Palate

The nose offers honeyed aromas of apricot, candied orange peel, and tropical fruit, with a botrytis complexity. Moving to the palate, the wine is rich and viscous, delivering intense sweetness tempered by fresh acidity, with golden raisin, honey, and baked stone fruit. The finish is long and honeyed, with lingering sweetness balanced by a fresh acidic lift on the close.

Food Pairing and Serving

A wonderful match for fruit tarts, creme brulee, or blue cheese. The natural acidity keeps the sweetness in check. Serve chilled at 8–10°C.

The Verdict

Inniskillin Riesling Icewine 2022 earns a well-deserved 8 out of 10. This is an outstanding dessert that delivers Riesling with genuine conviction and craft. At £64.95, this sits in premium territory, and it delivers the quality to match. Elena Vasquez VIPsAllowed - Incredible dessert wine

Bought this for my wife's birthday and we were both blown away. It's like liquid honey with apricot — so sweet but somehow not too much? The acidity keeps it fresh. We had it with a cheese board and it was perfect.

Got recommended this by a guy at the wine shop when I said I wanted something special for Christmas dessert. It's genuinely delicious — all honeyed fruit and golden raisin vibes. At £65 though, it's firmly a treat rather than a regular buy.

Had this at a dinner party at a friend's house and had to find out what it was. It's like fancy marmalade in a glass — orange peel, apricot, honey. Really thick texture but doesn't feel heavy because there's good acidity underneath. Treated myself to a bottle for my birthday.

Maybe I overhyped it in my head because of the price tag but I found it a bit one-note sweet for me. The honey and baked peach thing is nice enough and the finish is properly long. Just not sure it justified the spend when there are solid Sauternes for less.

Picked this up in duty free on a whim. The mango and lychee notes really surprised me — wasn't expecting tropical from a Riesling. Had it with some stilton and it was a brilliant combo. Only 9.5% too so you can enjoy it without getting floored.

Never had an icewine before and oh my god. Poured some for friends after dinner and everyone went quiet for a second. Thick and sweet like honey but then there's this citrusy zing at the end that just makes you want another sip. Already ordered another bottle.

7/10

I've been getting into dessert wines lately and this Inniskillin is solid. The Riesling grape gives it a nice freshness you don't always get with sweet wines. Candied fruit and honey on the nose, proper peach tart flavours when you drink it. Would score higher if it wasn't quite so steep price-wise.

Simon Hughes VIPsAllowed - Nice but not sure it's worth £65

Tried this at a tasting event and really enjoyed it so tracked down a bottle. The apricot and honey flavours are gorgeous and it's way less heavy than I expected for a dessert wine. But honestly for that price I'd want a bigger bottle — you don't get much for your money with icewine.
