Rosa Paredes VIPsAllowed - Great after-dinner pour

Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately tracked down a bottle. It's rich and complex but not heavy — goes down way too easily for 20% ABV honestly. Touriga Nacional grapes clearly do something special here. Cracking with a bit of dark chocolate.

My wife got me this for my birthday and wow. I'm not a port expert by any means but this is seriously good stuff. Sweet without being sickly, with a dry edge at the end that makes you want another glass. The hazelnut and toffee notes are amazing.

Bought this for Christmas dinner and it was the star of the show. The toffee and raisin flavours are gorgeous, and it went perfectly with the cheese board afterwards. Not cheap at nearly £70 but honestly worth it for a special occasion.

Saw this on a restaurant menu and ordered a glass. It's good — raisin, fig, some nice nutty warmth. The finish is long and spicy which I liked. I just expected to be slightly more blown away at this price point. Would still recommend trying it though, especially if you're into tawny ports.

Samir Patel VIPsAllowed - Good but the price stings a bit

It's a nice port, no question. Loads of dried fruit and toffee, and the finish goes on forever. But at £68.50 I'd probably only buy it again if it was on offer. There are decent 10-year tawnies out there for half the price that would do the job most nights.

The guy at my local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something a step up from the usual ruby port. He wasn't wrong — it's miles more interesting. You get figs and nuts on the nose and this lovely orange marmalade thing going on when you taste it. Really smooth for 20%.
