Poured this instead of making a pudding and nobody complained. The candied peel and dried fruit flavours make it taste like Christmas cake in liquid form. Goes brilliantly with dark chocolate if you want to double down. Already ordered another bottle.

Bought this for a dinner party and it was the star of the evening. The chocolate and cinnamon hit you straight away and everyone kept going back for more. At under £14 this is genuinely a bargain for how good it tastes. Will be buying again for Christmas.

6/10

I can see why people rate this but personally I found the sweetness and the chocolate a bit overwhelming after half a glass. The spicy finish is nice and it does linger for ages which is impressive. Might work better as a tiny after-dinner pour rather than a proper drink. Not bad for the price though.

Saw this on a menu and thought I'd grab a bottle to try at home. There's a salty edge to it that I wasn't expecting which stops it being too rich. It's the kind of thing I'd have a small glass of after dinner, not something I'd drink a lot of in one go. Nice to have in the cupboard though.

8/10

Got this as a birthday present from my sister and wasn't sure what to expect from a chocolate wine. It's actually really well made — dark chocolate and walnut flavours with a bit of warmth from the spice. Not like those cheap chocolate liqueurs at all. 15% so go steady mind.

Sophie Brennan VIPsAllowed - Really nice with cheese
8/10

The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something sweet but not too sweet. He was spot on — there's a richness to it but it doesn't feel sickly. Had it with a cheese board and it was perfect. The nutty, chocolatey thing it does works really well with strong cheddar.

Liam Anderson VIPsAllowed - Good but very sweet
7/10

It's nice enough and the chocolate flavour is genuine, not fake-tasting. I found it a bit sweet for my liking though — I prefer my fortified wines drier. My wife absolutely loved it so I can't mark it down too much. Decent for the price.

Marianne Blom VIPsAllowed - Unreal for the money
9/10

I've had fortified wines at twice this price that don't come close. The finish just goes on and on — dried fruit and spice hanging around forever. Tempranillo base works surprisingly well here. Proper treat of a bottle for £13.95.
