Clara Johansson VIPsAllowed - Good but not mindblowing
7/10

Decent oloroso with nice structure and a clean finish. I was expecting a bit more punch for the money if I'm honest. It's well balanced and the acidity keeps things interesting but at nearly eighty quid for 375ml I wanted to be more wowed than I was. Still a solid wine though.

Got this as a birthday present from my partner who knows I like sherries. The nose on this is incredible — really rich and layered, like dried fruits and nuts just hitting you as soon as you pour. At £79 for a half bottle it better be good, and honestly it is. Smooth, balanced, and I kept going back for another sip.

Marianne Blom VIPsAllowed - Proper grown-up sherry
8/10

Picked this up after the guy in the wine shop recommended it when I said I wanted something special for Christmas. It's an oloroso so expect that nutty, oxidative style but done really well here. Good acidity keeps it fresh and the finish just lingers nicely. Not cheap but it's estate aged so you're paying for quality.

Had this at a restaurant and liked it so much I tracked down a bottle. The Romate estate aged oloroso has this beautiful clean finish that doesn't overstay its welcome. Genuinely complex without being hard work to drink. Half bottle is actually ideal for two people over a long meal.

Daniel Torres VIPsAllowed - Converted a sherry sceptic
8/10

My wife always said she didn't like sherry until I poured her some of this. The aromatics are so generous and inviting — nothing harsh or rough about it at all. We ended up finishing the half bottle over cheese and crackers on a Friday night. She's now asking me to find more like this.

I'm not a sherry expert by any means but a friend brought this to a dinner party and wow. So much going on — layers of flavour that kept changing as it sat in the glass. At 14% it's not heavy at all which surprised me. We had it with some manchego and almonds and it was perfect.

Saw this on a list at a tapas place and decided to just go for it. So glad I did. The depth here is real — you can taste the years of cask ageing in every sip. Clean acidity stops it being heavy and the finish goes on and on. Yes it's expensive but sometimes you just want something special and this nails it.

Daisy Miller VIPsAllowed - Nice but steep price
7/10

Look, this is a lovely sherry — complex, well-made, all that. But £79 for a half bottle is a lot of money and I'm not sure it's twice as good as bottles half the price. Would I buy it again? Probably not at that price point, but I'm glad I tried it.
