Philipponnat Royale Reserve Brut Rose Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV PhilipponnatGood but maybe not £58 good
Look, it's a nice champagne. The redcurrant flavour is genuinely there and it's crisp and refreshing. But I've had Crémants at half the price that got me nearly as excited. If someone else is buying, brilliant. Out of my own pocket, I'd think twice.
Solid rosé champagne
Recommended by the guy at my local wine shop when I said I wanted a rosé champagne that wasn't just sweet and boring. He was right — there's a nice tartness to it and real red fruit flavour, not just pink water. Would happily buy again.
This is what rosé champagne should taste like
I've been slowly working my way through different rosé champagnes this year and Philipponnat is right up there. There's a mineral quality on the finish that I really enjoy, and the acidity keeps everything fresh and lively. Seriously impressive stuff.
Dinner party winner
Brought this to a dinner party and everyone kept asking about it. It's got a really clean taste with wild strawberry vibes and just enough depth that you keep wanting another sip. Went perfectly with the salmon starter too.
Great find for our anniversary
We're not massive wine people but wanted something special for our anniversary. The strawberry and citrus notes are really easy to enjoy and it doesn't have that yeasty taste that puts me off some champagnes. Felt like a proper treat at 12.5% without being too heavy either.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this for my wife's birthday and we were both blown away. The strawberry thing going on is really lovely and it's got this subtle bready quality that makes it feel proper fancy. At £58 it's not cheap but for a special occasion champagne it's absolutely worth it.
Nice enough, expected more wow factor
Saw this on a restaurant menu and figured I'd try it at home. It's well made for sure — pleasant red berry flavours and a clean finish. Just didn't blow my mind the way I hoped at this price point. Perfectly decent though, don't get me wrong.
