Devon Marsh VIPsAllowed - Perfect after dinner sipper
8/10

Had this at a friend's house after a big Sunday roast and it was perfect for that moment. Really rich with toffee and apricot notes, and the finish goes on forever. Not something I'd drink every day but for a slow evening it's spot on.

Bought this for my dad's 60th and we ended up finishing the bottle between us. The butterscotch and toffee flavours are gorgeous but it's not sickly sweet at all — there's something dry underneath that stops it being too much. Genuinely one of the nicest fortified wines I've had.

The wine shop guy talked me into this and it is good, I'll give it that. Loads of dried fruit and a lovely warming finish. But £33 is a lot for a sherry when you can get decent ones for half that. Would buy again on offer.

This isn't a wine you rush. Poured some after getting the kids to bed and just sat with it for an hour. Butterscotch on the nose, loads of dried fruit flavour, and a spicy finish that hangs around. Palomino Fino doing serious work here. Really enjoyed it.

Decent fortified wine, does what it says on the tin. The caramel and dried apricot are nice and it's warming at 18%. I just expected a bit more depth for the price point. Would pair well with a cheese board though.

Nils Bergman VIPsAllowed - Great with blue cheese

Picked this up after seeing it on a menu at a tapas place and wanting to try it at home. The sweetness works brilliantly with stilton — the toffee and spice against the salty cheese is unreal. Goes a long way too since you're only pouring small glasses.

Idris Ibrahim VIPsAllowed - Changed my mind about sherry

I always thought sherry was what my nan drank at Christmas but this is something else entirely. Complex and layered — the hazelnut thing going on is really interesting and it's got this grip to it that keeps you coming back for another sip. Absolute winner.
