Henrik Larsen VIPsAllowed - Once in a lifetime bottle

My father-in-law turned 80 this year so we tracked down an 80 year old port to match. The whole table went silent after the first sip. The fruit is still there after all those decades which blew my mind, and the finish just goes on and on. Worth every penny of the £575 for a moment like that.

Treated myself after 35 years at the same company. The guy at the wine shop recommended it and said I wouldn't regret it — he was right. Every time I went back to the glass it smelled different, kept finding new things. The finish lasts forever. Already planning what milestone justifies buying another one.

Opened this for New Year's with three mates who are all into wine. We just sat there after the first taste. The alcohol is completely hidden at 20% — dangerously drinkable for something this strong. The way the flavours develop and the finish just hangs there is something else. Gift box presentation is lovely too.

Ingrid Holm VIPsAllowed - Amazing port, painful price tag

Look, this is genuinely one of the best things I've ever tasted. The complexity is unreal and the finish sticks around for ages. But I keep going back and forth on whether any port is worth nearly £600. If you've got the budget and you love port, go for it. I just wish it was a bit more accessible.

Luciano Bianchi VIPsAllowed - Impressive but hard to justify

A friend brought this to our wine group and it was easily the best thing we tasted all year. Incredibly complex, layers and layers of flavour that kept changing in the glass. That said, £575 is a LOT of money and I think you can get 90% of the experience from Kopke's younger tawnies for a fraction of the cost.

Had a small pour of this at a restaurant in Porto last summer and it completely changed how I think about port. It's so balanced and clean, nothing heavy or syrupy about it. The age really shows in the best possible way. Saved up and bought the gift box version for my dad's Christmas present.

Got to try this at a port tasting event and honestly it ruined all other ports for me. The acidity is weirdly fresh for something this old — you'd never guess it's 20% alcohol either, it's so smooth. Would I buy a whole bottle at that price? Probably not. But I'm glad I got to experience it.
