First Impressions

Henners Rose NV arrives at £39.95, and at this price, it needs to offer genuine quality to stand out in a crowded market. 75cl / 12% - The vineyards of Henners are less than a mile form the sea in East Sussex which they farm with minimal intervention. On the nose this is all about wild strawberry.

English winemaking has come of age, with producers demonstrating that the country's chalky soils and cool climate can yield wines of genuine quality and character. Henners is a name worth knowing in this context.

On the Nose and Palate

Moving to the palate, the wine is crisp and dry with red berry fruit, pink grapefruit, and a mineral undertow. The finish is short but satisfying finish with berry fruit, white pepper, and a clean dry close.

Food Pairing and Serving

Ideal with Mediterranean salads, grilled seafood, or light summer fare. Serve well chilled at 8-10°C for maximum refreshment.

Ruth Banks VIPsAllowed - Nice but nearly £40?
7/10

The wine shop guy recommended this and it is genuinely lovely — fresh, crisp, that grapefruit bitterness keeps it interesting. But £40 for a still rosé is a big ask. I'd happily pay £25 for it. Good for a treat though.

Olivia Wong VIPsAllowed - Decent English rosé

Saw this on a restaurant menu and thought I'd try the bottle at home. It's good — fresh raspberry nose, nice and dry, proper grown-up rosé. The mineral quality is there which I like. Didn't blow my mind for the price but I can see why people rate it.

Had this with grilled salmon and it was perfect. Dry and crisp with red berry fruit and a bit of pink grapefruit — cuts right through the richness. At 12% it's easy drinking too. Only thing is the finish drops off quite quick but honestly not a dealbreaker.

Bought this for a BBQ and it completely stole the show. Bone dry with lovely raspberry flavours — not sweet at all which is what I want from a rosé. The chalky mineral thing going on is really interesting, feels like a proper English wine. Will definitely buy again.

Aiko Tanaka VIPsAllowed - Birthday present hit
8/10

Got this as a birthday gift and glad I did. Really elegant stuff, not your typical fruity rosé at all. You get redcurrant and berry but it finishes dry with a little peppery kick. My friend who knows way more about wine than me was impressed.
