Grace Kim VIPsAllowed - Good value tawny

The guy at Majestic recommended this when I said I wanted to try port but didn't want to spend loads. It's nice — nutty and sweet but not sickly. Does the job well enough, though I wonder if spending a bit more would get you something really special.

Got this as a birthday present and it's brilliant with cheese and dark chocolate. The dried fruit flavours are bang on and it doesn't burn your throat like some ports do — the alcohol is really well hidden for 20%. Will definitely be picking up another bottle for Christmas.

It's fine? Like it tastes good, the caramel notes are nice and it's smooth enough. But for £23 I expected a bit more depth honestly. My mate brought round a cheaper ruby port last week that I enjoyed just as much. Might be a tawny thing — still figuring out what I prefer.

Bought this for a dinner party and it was the star of the evening. Really lovely caramel and dried fruit thing going on, and it's dangerously easy to drink for 20%. At around £23 it's a solid buy — we finished the bottle before anyone noticed.

Astrid Nilsen VIPsAllowed - Reliable go-to port
7/10

Had this at a restaurant a while back and liked it enough to grab a bottle from the supermarket. It's got a lovely warmth to it and the finish keeps going for ages. Not the most complex port I've tried but at this price point it's hard to complain. Good with a bit of stilton after Sunday roast.
