First Impressions

Graham's 1994 Vintage Port / Library Release arrives at £125.00, and at this price point, expectations are rightly elevated. 75cl / 20% - The 1994 Library Release Port from Graham's was bottled in 1996 and matured in the Symington cellars until 2021. Aromas of dark berries, plums, mint and fruitcake.

Portugal's wine scene extends far beyond port, with producers crafting increasingly refined expressions that showcase the country's unique terroir and grape varieties. Grahams is a name worth knowing in this context.

On the Nose and Palate

The nose offers complex bouquet of candied peel, cinnamon, and dried fruit, with a saline mineral edge. Moving to the palate, the wine is silky and intense with fig, raisin, and coffee notes, underpinned by well-judged sweetness. The finish is extended and warming close with toffee, dark chocolate, and a clean dry edge.

Food Pairing and Serving

Wonderful with strong cheeses, charcuterie, or dark chocolate desserts. Serve slightly chilled at 12-14°C for lighter styles, or at room temperature for richer expressions.

The Verdict

Graham's 1994 Vintage Port / Library Release earns a well-deserved 9 out of 10. This is an exceptional fortified that delivers Touriga Nacional with genuine conviction and craft. At £125.00, this sits in premium territory, and it delivers the quality to match. Whether you are building a cellar or simply looking for something excellent to drink tonight, this bottle earns its place.

Grace Kim VIPsAllowed - Best port I've ever had
10/10

Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately went and ordered a bottle myself. The toffee and dark chocolate at the end is incredible. I'm not usually a port person but this completely changed my mind.

Gonna be honest, £125 is a lot for port in my book. That said, this is genuinely lovely stuff — the cinnamon and dried fruit on the nose is bang on and it's got this silky richness that cheaper ports just don't have. Shared it with cheese after Sunday roast and it was perfect.

We cracked this open with some stilton and aged cheddar and it was unreal. The raisin and fig flavours work so well with strong cheese. The sweetness isn't over the top either which I appreciated. Touriga Nacional is quickly becoming my favourite grape for port.

My wife got me this for my 50th and wow. The dried fruit and chocolate on the finish had me nursing this glass for about an hour. At £125 it's not an everyday bottle but for a special occasion it's absolutely worth it.

Isla McCallister VIPsAllowed - Good but not sure it's £125 good

Nice port, don't get me wrong — the candied peel on the nose is lovely and it's got a proper long finish with that chocolate thing going on. But I've had ports at half the price that I enjoyed just as much. Maybe my palate isn't refined enough to tell the difference, who knows.

Felix Moreau VIPsAllowed - Proper old-school port
8/10

Picked this up after the guy at the wine shop talked me into it. Really smooth for something at 20% — you don't get that boozy burn at all. The fig and coffee flavours come through nicely, especially after it's been open for a bit. Pricey but I'd buy it again for Christmas.
