Kofi Asante VIPsAllowed - Christmas day winner
9/10

Opened this on Christmas day and it was the star of the whole meal. Rich and deep with loads going on, and it held up brilliantly with the cheese board after. At £42 it's not cheap but honestly felt worth every penny for a special occasion.

Zoe Chen VIPsAllowed - Great with dark chocolate
8/10

Picked this up for my dad's birthday and we ended up sharing it with some dark chocolate after dinner. The concentrated fruit works so well with chocolate it's ridiculous. Clean finish too, doesn't leave that heavy sticky feeling some ports do.

Sophie Brennan VIPsAllowed - Good but bit steep
7/10

Nice port, well balanced and not too boozy despite being 20%. But I've had ports at £25-30 that I've enjoyed just as much, so the price is a bit hard to justify for a weeknight drink. Would maybe buy again for a special dinner.

Priscilla Nunes VIPsAllowed - Really solid port
8/10

Bought this on the recommendation of a guy at my local wine shop who said it was a step up from basic vintage ports. He wasn't wrong. There's real depth to it and it doesn't taste overly sweet like some ports can. You can tell it's got more to give if you cellar it a few years too.

Andre Dubois VIPsAllowed - Fonseca never lets me down
9/10

I've been slowly working my way through different Fonseca ports and the Guimaraens 2015 is up there with my favourites. Loads of complexity and structure, proper layered stuff that keeps changing in the glass. This will only get better with age if you can resist opening it.

Marcus Chen VIPsAllowed - Decent port, still learning
7/10

I'm pretty new to port but trying to get into it. This was nice — warming and fruity without being sickly sweet. The alcohol is pretty noticeable at 20% though so you definitely want small glasses. Not sure I know enough to say if it's worth the price over cheaper ones but I enjoyed it.

Zara Al-Hassan VIPsAllowed - Perfect end to a dinner party
8/10

Saw this on a list of recommended vintage ports and grabbed a bottle for a dinner party. Went down really well — the acidity keeps it from being too heavy and there's a lovely long finish. A couple of friends who normally don't drink port actually asked what it was. Will definitely be buying more Fonseca.
