Kofi Asante VIPsAllowed - Perfect after-dinner sipper
8/10

Bought this for Christmas dinner and it was a hit. Really rich dark fruit flavours and it's got this nice firmness to it that stops it being too sweet like some Ports. At £17 it's genuinely good value — we finished the bottle between four of us with cheese and nobody complained.

It's a decent Port and I can taste the dark fruit stuff they talk about, but at 20% ABV it's quite heavy going. Had a glass after dinner and didn't really want a second. Fine for what it is but I think I prefer a tawny style personally.

My dad's been buying Fonseca for years so I finally picked up a bottle of the Bin 27. I get why he likes it now. Loads of fruit but it's balanced and not cloying, and the acidity keeps it fresh. Brilliant with blue cheese after a Sunday roast. Might become a regular purchase.

Guy at Majestic suggested this when I said I wanted a reserve Port under twenty quid. He wasn't wrong — there's proper depth to it and it finishes really cleanly. Will definitely keep a bottle around for when people come over.
