Victor Osei VIPsAllowed - Decent Christmas port
6/10

Got this as a birthday present from someone who clearly knows more about wine than me. It's strong stuff at 19% so you don't need much. I liked the toffee and dried fruit flavours, goes really well with dark chocolate. Not sure I'd spend £24 on port myself though.

Nice enough port with some interesting flavours — I get the dried fruit and there's definitely something savoury and salty in there which is unusual. But for £24 I feel like you can find ports with a bit more going on. The tannins are nice though, stops it being too sweet.

Bought this for a dinner party and it went down a treat with the cheese board at the end. Really rich and warming with loads of baking spice. Everyone commented on the salty thing in the finish which was a great talking point. Would definitely buy again.

Had this at a friend's house over Christmas and immediately ordered a bottle. It's got that lovely fig and almond thing going on and the finish goes on forever. Poured it over vanilla ice cream too which was incredible. Really solid port.

Picked this up from Majestic on a whim and honestly really impressed. You get that rich dried fruit and toffee thing going on but it doesn't taste syrupy sweet like cheap port usually does. The salty finish is genuinely interesting — my wife thought I was mad but she agreed after trying it.

8/10

I've been getting into port recently and this Cockburn is genuinely excellent for under £25. The tannic grip gives it real structure — it's not just a sugar bomb like a lot of ruby ports. That sea salt note on the finish is unlike anything I've tasted in this price range. Touriga Nacional doing its thing.

It's alright. Bit heavy on the prune flavour for me, I prefer something a bit lighter and fruitier in a port. The almond note on the finish is nice though. At £24 I'd probably just grab a Taylor's next time.

The wine shop guy recommended this and it's a lot. Very intense, very boozy. The prune and molasses thing is quite heavy going — I managed a small glass but couldn't do more than that. I'm sure port lovers would enjoy it more than I did.
