Omar Diallo VIPsAllowed — Great but hard to justify the price

Tried this at a restaurant and really enjoyed it so looked it up — over £80 a bottle is steep. The prune and molasses nose is lovely and it's silky smooth, but I've had Palo Cortados at half the price that got me nearly as excited. One for a treat, not a regular buy.

Picked this up after reading about VORS sherries and wanting to see what the fuss was about. It's seriously complex — roasted almonds, figs, a coffee bitterness that works really well. Poured small glasses for everyone after Christmas dinner and even my mate who "doesn't like sherry" asked for a second.

Had this at a tasting evening and immediately tracked down a bottle. The fig and raisin thing on the palate is gorgeous, and there's a saltiness that makes it really moreish. Not your nan's cream sherry, that's for sure.
