Daniel Torres VIPsAllowed - Great dinner party bottle
7/10

Bought two of these for a birthday dinner and everyone commented on how good the wine was. It's got a lovely nose — you can smell it as soon as you pour. Drinks well without needing to sit around for ages which was handy. Solid choice if you want something a step up from the usual.

Suki Patel VIPsAllowed - Good but a bit steep
6/10

Nice enough wine, smooth tannins and a clean finish. But £21 for a Monastrell feels like a stretch when you can get great ones from Jumilla for half that. I'd want a bit more wow factor at this price point.

Tariq Hassan VIPsAllowed - Monastrell convert
8/10

I don't normally go for Monastrell but this one changed my mind a bit. There's proper depth to it, layers of dark fruit and a bit of spice, and it stays with you after each sip. At 14% it's got some warmth to it so maybe not one for a hot day but brilliant with a steak on a cold evening.

Tyler Bennet VIPsAllowed - Really solid red
8/10

Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. Really nice deep fruit flavours and it's got enough going on to keep you interested without being over the top. Had it with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was perfect. Would definitely buy again.
