Victor Osei VIPsAllowed - Good but not £200 good
5/10

Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was pleasant enough — nice bubbles, lemony and appley with a bit of a biscuity thing. But honestly for two hundred quid I expected to be more blown away. I've had champagnes at half the price that I enjoyed just as much.

I'm a bit of a Pol Roger fan and this 2015 vintage is proper good. There's a chalkiness to it that I really like, and the green apple freshness keeps it lively. The finish goes on for ages with this almost salty, mineral quality. Pricey but you're getting quality Pinot Noir champagne here.

Bought this for our anniversary and it was really nice. You get that toasty brioche thing going on with some nutty notes, and it's got a proper crisp finish. At £199 it's not an everyday bottle but felt worth it for the occasion.

The guy at the wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something decent for my sister's 40th. It's got a lovely almond and citrus thing on the nose and drinks really clean and fresh. Not sure I'd buy it again at that price but everyone at the party enjoyed it.

Saw this on a restaurant wine list and splashed out. It's fine — nice enough bubbles, some toasty almond flavours — but at 12.5% and nearly £200 retail I just felt a bit let down. Went back to my usual Moët the next week and was just as happy.
