Pol Roger 2019 Rosé Vintage Champagne: Tradition Meets Brilliance
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Pol RogerSolid rosé champagne
Had this at a friend's wedding and tracked a bottle down afterwards. Really elegant stuff — there's a honeyed richness to it and a baked apple flavour that I wasn't expecting from a champagne. The finish goes on forever too. Would buy again for special occasions.
Good but is it £105 good?
The wine shop recommended this over a couple of cheaper options and I can see why — it's complex, got that toasty bread and hazelnut thing with a chalky dry finish. But honestly for £105 I'd probably look at some of the non-vintage Pol Rogers instead and save myself £50. Still a very nice bottle though.
Perfect for our anniversary dinner
Picked this up for a nice steak dinner at home and it was gorgeous. I'm not great at describing wine but there's definitely pear and peach on the nose, and it tastes rich and smooth with really tiny bubbles. My partner said it was the best champagne she's had. We'll be getting another one at Christmas.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my 40th and wow, it really was something special. The bubbles are incredibly fine and it's got this lovely toasty, brioche-y thing going on with some fruity sweetness underneath. At £105 it's not cheap but for a milestone birthday? Absolutely worth it.
