Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial Champagne / Jeroboam
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Moet & ChandonSurprised how smooth this was
I'm not usually a champagne person but my partner got this as a birthday present and wow. Really smooth bubbles, not harsh at all, and there's a warmth to it that I wasn't expecting — almost like a toast or pastry kind of flavour? Goes down dangerously easy at 12.5%. We had it with a cheese board and it was brilliant.
The ultimate party starter
Bought the Jeroboam for my wife's 40th and it was an absolute showstopper. The bubbles are so fine and delicate, and there's this lovely brioche thing going on that makes it taste properly luxurious. At £405 it's not cheap but when you consider it's basically four bottles and the wow factor of pouring from a massive bottle, it's actually not bad value for a big celebration.
Great champagne, big bottle tax though
Look, Moet Brut Imperial is a solid champagne and I always enjoy it. Nice citrus freshness, clean finish, does exactly what you want champagne to do. But £405 for the Jeroboam is a bit steep when you can get four regular bottles for less. Bought it for New Year's because it looks impressive on the table, and it did, but I'd probably just get standard bottles next time.
Decent for a crowd
Had this at a dinner party my friend hosted and it went down well with everyone. Clean and easy to drink with a nice bit of complexity if you actually pay attention to it. The finish is pleasant without being over the top. I'd say it's a reliable choice when you need to impress a group, though personally I might explore some smaller champagne houses at that price point.
Worth every penny for our wedding
We had this at our wedding reception and I'm so glad we splashed out. Really crisp and fresh with white flower notes that even my non-wine-drinking mates noticed. The Jeroboam format meant it aged slightly differently according to the wine shop guy, and honestly it tasted better than the regular bottles I've had before. Perfect for a special occasion.
