Marco Abella Priorat Loidana 2022: A Red of Genuine Distinction
Red 14.5% ABV ABV Marco AbellaNice blend, easy drinking
Not usually a Grenache fan but the mix with Cab Sav and Carignan really works here. Plummy and rich without being too heavy. Opened it for a dinner party and everyone commented on it which is always a good sign.
Solid red, great with steak
Had this with a ribeye on date night and it was a proper match. You get a nice peppery kick on the finish that works brilliantly with red meat. Not the most complex wine I've ever had but it does what it does really well.
Really impressive for the price
Picked this up from my local wine shop on a recommendation and glad I did. Loads of dark cherry and plum flavour, really smooth and easy to drink despite being quite full. At £25 it's not an everyday bottle but it punches well above its weight for a Priorat.
Absolutely loved this
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and ordered a bottle — then went and tracked it down to buy more. The baking spice notes are lovely and it's so smooth for a wine with this much flavour. Genuinely one of the best reds I've had under £30. Already bought another couple of bottles to stick in the rack.
Birthday treat that delivered
My wife got me this for my birthday after seeing it somewhere online. The nose is gorgeous, all dark fruit and cedar, almost like Christmas cake. Silky smooth to drink and at 14.5% it's got some heft to it. One of those bottles where you keep going back for another glass.
Good but expected more
I like Priorat wines generally so had high hopes for this one. It's decent — nice cherry fruit and some spice — but at nearly £25 I thought it would have a bit more going on. The finish is nice though, kind of lingers with a black pepper thing. Would probably buy again if it was on offer.
