Manon Boutillez-Guer Rayon de Lumière BdB Brut Nature NV Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Manon Boutillez-GuerGood but pricey for what it is
Nice champagne, don't get me wrong. Clean finish, proper depth to it, and the bubbles are fine and persistent. But at £68.75 I'd want a bit more wow factor. I've had similarly enjoyable bottles for £15-20 less. Would probably buy again on offer though.
Brought this to a dinner party
Took this along to a friend's dinner and everyone kept asking about it. It's really expressive on the nose — loads of different things coming through each time you sniff it. Dry as anything which I love but might not suit everyone. The 12.5% ABV means it doesn't knock you sideways either.
Proper champagne, no shortcuts
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. It's a Blanc de Blancs with no added sugar (brut nature) and you can really tell — it's bone dry and has this lovely sharp acidity that keeps you going back for more. Great with oysters if you're feeling fancy.
Stunning birthday bubbles
My partner got me this for my birthday and wow. Really crisp and clean with zero sweetness — just pure, bright champagne flavour. You can taste how well made it is even if you're not an expert. At nearly £70 it's a treat but honestly worth it for a special occasion.
This is what champagne should taste like
I've been getting more into champagne lately and this small producer stuff is just on another level compared to the big brands. Manon Boutillez-Guer clearly knows what she's doing. Structured, balanced, with a finish that just quietly lingers. Not cheap but I'd rather have one glass of this than three of something forgettable.
