Jason Steel VIPsAllowed - Interesting Jacquere
7/10

I've been trying to explore lesser-known grapes lately and this Jacquere from the French Alps was a great find. Bone dry with a really clean finish, proper mineral and citrusy. Low alcohol too which is a bonus midweek. Not the most complex wine I've ever had but it's got real character for the style.

Bought this for a barbecue last weekend and it was absolutely spot on. So refreshing — all gooseberry and citrus, almost like a really grown-up lemonade. The salty mineral thing it does is class. Already ordered more for when the weather picks up again.

Mei-Lin Wu VIPsAllowed - Nice but not sure about the price

Had this at a friend's dinner party and thought it was lovely — crisp, clean, bit of passionfruit which I wasn't expecting. But then I looked it up and it's £26 a bottle? For a wine I'd never heard of from a grape I can't pronounce? It's good but I'd want it closer to £20.

8/10

Picked this up because the guy at the wine shop said it was something different. He wasn't wrong — it's super zesty and fresh, loads of lemon and lime going on. Really light at 10.5% too so I ended up having a couple of glasses on a Tuesday night without feeling rough. Would definitely buy again.

6/10

It's fine. Very dry and lemony, which I know some people love but I prefer something with a bit more body. My partner really liked it though, said it reminded her of something she had in the Alps. Goes well with fish if that's your thing.
