Kopke 2001 Colheita Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV KopkeNice but a bit steep
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted a good port for Christmas. It's tasty — lots of dried fruit and orange peel coming through — but £50 is a lot for port in my book. I've had similar for less.
Incredible birthday treat
My wife got me this for my 50th and wow. The caramel and fig flavours are amazing — it's like a really posh dessert in a glass. Sipped it over three evenings and it just got better each time. Fifty quid well spent.
Solid port, nothing wrong with it
Decent aged tawny. You can tell it's been sitting in barrels for years — the dried fruit and caramel flavours are well developed. I just expected a bit more complexity at this price point. Good but not mind-blowing for me personally.
Blew me away
I'm not usually a port person but tried this at a friend's house and immediately ordered a bottle. The walnut and spice on the finish is gorgeous. It's from 2001 which is pretty cool — older than some of my colleagues at work.
Proper after-dinner stuff
Bought this for a dinner party and it went down a storm with the cheese board. Really smooth for 20% — you don't get that burn at all. The nutty, almond-y finish is lovely. Would definitely buy again.
Great with dark chocolate
Picked this up after reading about colheita ports online. Really rich and warming without being too sweet, which is what I wanted. Had it with some 70% dark chocolate and it was a perfect combo. The cinnamon and clove at the end are spot on.
