Henners Brut NV: A Sparkling Discovery
Sparkling 12% ABV ABV HennersSolid English fizz
The wine shop guy recommended this as a good example of English sparkling and I can see why. There's a green apple thing going on that's really pleasant and it finishes clean. Not going to blow your mind but I'd happily drink it again.
Really nice for a celebration
Bought this for my wife's birthday and we both really enjoyed it. Lovely apple-y freshness and the bubbles are really smooth and creamy. At £40 it's not an everyday thing but felt special enough for the occasion.
Fine but overpriced
Had this at a friend's house and it was perfectly drinkable — crisp and refreshing with some citrusy notes. But honestly for nearly £40 I'd expect a bit more depth. You can get a decent Crémant for half the price that does the same job.
Converted me to English wine
I was skeptical about English sparkling wine but this has properly won me over. The mousse is so creamy and there's a lovely stone fruit sweetness in the middle that balances out the crispness. Bought two more bottles after trying this at a dinner party.
Decent with food
We had this with fish and chips on the patio last weekend and it worked really well. Light and citrusy, not too heavy at 12%. It's nice but I'm not sure it quite justifies the price tag when there's so much good Prosecco around for less.
Not bad, not amazing
Saw this on a restaurant menu and thought I'd give it a go. It's pleasant enough — appley and fresh with a dry mineral finish. But at this price point I kept thinking I'd rather have had a Champagne. One and done for me.
Goes down dangerously easy
Picked this up after reading about English sparkling wines and wanting to try one. The elderflower note is gorgeous and it's got this biscuity thing underneath that surprised me. Very easy drinking — we finished the bottle before the starter was even done.
