Olivia Park VIPsAllowed - Nice but hard to justify the price
7/10

Look, it's a good wine. Clean finish, well balanced, no complaints on the taste front. But fifty-three quid for English sparkling? I've had champagnes for less that I enjoyed just as much. Would happily drink it again if someone else was buying.

Got this as a birthday present from my partner and wow, it really punches above a lot of sparkling wines I've had. The acidity is spot on — crisp without being sharp. Kept going back for another glass which is always a good sign.

I'm not usually one to spend over £50 on a bottle but I grabbed this on a whim and don't regret it at all. It smells amazing straight out of the bottle — no waiting around for it to open up. Rich but still fresh, if that makes sense? Already ordered another one.

Valentina Ricci VIPsAllowed - Proper English fizz
8/10

Tried this at a restaurant and liked it enough to track down a bottle. It's got this lovely precision to it, everything feels deliberate rather than just thrown together. Not cheap at £53 but it genuinely competes with champagne at that price.

Jason Steel VIPsAllowed - Converted my champagne-snob mate

Brought this to a BBQ specifically to wind up my friend who insists only French fizz is worth drinking. He shut up pretty quickly after the first glass. It's got real depth to it without being heavy, and the finish just lingers nicely. English sparkling is having a moment and this is why.

Picked this up after reading some hype about Hattingley Valley. It's decent — nice and structured, good length on the finish. But at this price point I was expecting to be blown away and I was more like pleasantly satisfied. Would give it another go in a year or two to see how it develops.

Served this blind alongside a Pol Roger and honestly people couldn't tell which was which. Really expressive on the nose, opens up beautifully in the glass. My wife wants me to get a case now so that tells you everything.

Went in asking for something special for our anniversary and got pointed toward this. Blanc de blancs so it's all chardonnay which apparently gives it that taut freshness. Whatever the science is, it works — we polished off the bottle over a seafood pasta and it was perfect.
