Clara Johansson VIPsAllowed - New favourite Champagne

Picked this up after reading about Guy Mea online. Really aromatic when you pour it, loads of fruit character. The mid-palate has genuine depth to it — this isn't one of those Champagnes that's all fizz and no substance. Goes brilliantly with nibbles or just on its own.

I'm not usually a Champagne person — I normally stick to Prosecco honestly. But a friend brought this round and I was genuinely impressed. The fruit comes through straight away on the nose and it's got this lovely complexity that kept me interested. Might have to start paying more for my bubbles now.

Bought this for my 40th and wow, glad I did. Really expressive nose — you can smell it as soon as you pour. Lovely balance of fruit and that crisp acidity that keeps you going back for more. At £46.50 it's not cheap but for a Premier Cru Champagne it's actually pretty fair.

It's good, don't get me wrong. Clean finish, decent fruit, well made. But I've had Champagnes at £35 that I've enjoyed just as much. Would I buy it again? Maybe for a special occasion but not as a regular thing.

Had this at a restaurant last month. It's well made and I enjoyed drinking it, nice acidity and clean finish. But at this price point I expected it to blow me away and it didn't quite get there. Solid 7 though.

Wanted something that would impress without being ridiculous money and this hit the mark. Everyone commented on how good it was. Beautiful balance between the fruit and the acidity, and it stays with you after each sip. Would definitely buy again for when I need to show up with something decent.

Opened this with my wife over a nice steak dinner and it was spot on. Not too showy, just confident and balanced. The finish lingers really nicely without being overpowering. We both loved it.

The guy at my local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something a step up from Moët. He was right — there's proper depth here, not just bubbles and nothing else. Took a couple of sips to really get into it but then I didn't want to stop.
