Diana Cruz VIPsAllowed - One of the best reds I've had this year
9/10

Saw this on a restaurant menu and liked it so much I tracked down a bottle for home. The spice and dark plum thing really works, and it's got this long finish that just hangs around. I'm not usually one to spend £30 on a bottle but this one I'd happily rebuy.

Clara Johansson VIPsAllowed - Bit pricey for what it is
6/10

It's a nice enough shiraz but at nearly £30 I expected something a bit more special. The dark fruit flavours are good and it's well made, but I've had Barossa shirazes at £20 that gave me just as much enjoyment. Would maybe pick it up on offer.

Erik Strom VIPsAllowed - Birthday treat that delivered
8/10

Got this as a birthday present to myself and no regrets. Loved the plum and blackberry on the nose, and there's a spicy warmth that just keeps going. Really smooth for a 14% wine — didn't feel heavy at all.

Penelope Hart VIPsAllowed - Punchy but not too much
8/10

I usually find big Aussie shirazes a bit jammy but this one stays on the right side of it. There's proper fruit concentration but also some savoury spice that keeps it interesting. The tannins give it a nice backbone too. Shared it with my partner over pasta and we both really liked it.

Yuki Nakamura VIPsAllowed - Goes great with a steak night
7/10

Had this with ribeye steaks on a Saturday and it was a cracking pairing. Nice grip to it that cuts through the fat, and the dark fruit flavours are bang on for red meat. Would buy again for a proper steak night.

Natalie Ford VIPsAllowed - Really impressed with this one
8/10

Bought this for a dinner party and it was a massive hit. Big dark fruit flavours, proper spicy warmth, and it went down brilliantly with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder. At thirty quid it's not an everyday bottle but it's worth it for an occasion.

Benjamin Ross VIPsAllowed - Decent shiraz, does the job
7/10

Picked this up from Majestic to have something nice in for the weekend. It's a well-made red — blackberry, a bit of spice, good balance. Nothing that blew my mind but it's reliably enjoyable and I finished the bottle pretty happily.

Freya Lindqvist VIPsAllowed - Solid Barossa shiraz
7/10

The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I liked Australian reds. It's got that classic Barossa thing going on — loads of blackberry and plum, nice and rich but not over the top. Tannins are firm but smooth enough that you don't need to cellar it. Good stuff.
