First Impressions

Dom Perignon 2017 Vintage Champagne arrives at £204.00 for 75cl, and at this price point, expectations are rightly elevated. With a higher proportion of Chardonnay in the blend, this elegant Champagne showcases refined notes of dried apricot, buttered toast, and toasted hazelnut.

France's winemaking heritage needs no introduction, but the best producers continue to find new ways to express their terroir while honouring centuries of tradition. Dom Perignon is a name worth knowing in this context.

On the Nose and Palate

The nose offers fine and persistent mousse releasing aromas of brioche, toasted almond, and citrus blossom. Moving to the palate, the wine is generous and complex, showing stone fruit, pastry cream, and a lovely toasty richness with vibrant acidity. The finish is persistent and elegant, with fine bubbles carrying brioche and lemon notes to a clean close.

Food Pairing and Serving

Equally at home as an aperitif or alongside seafood, sushi, or delicate canapes. Serve at 8–10°C in proper flutes or, better yet, white wine glasses to appreciate the full bouquet.

The Verdict

Dom Perignon 2017 Vintage Champagne earns a well-deserved 9 out of 10. This is an outstanding champagne that delivers Chardonnay with genuine conviction and craft. At £204.00, this sits in premium territory, and it delivers the quality to match. Whether you're building a cellar or simply looking for something excellent to drink tonight, this bottle earns its place.

Jake Morrison VIPsAllowed - Finally tried the real deal
9/10

Always wondered if Dom Perignon was actually worth it or just marketing. Had it at a friend's birthday dinner and honestly, it's the real deal. Really rich and bready with stone fruit flavours, but still fresh and zippy at the same time. The finish goes on forever. I get why people spend the money now.

Picked this up from a wine shop for New Year's and the guy behind the counter said the 2017 vintage is a good one. He wasn't wrong. It's so smooth and creamy with lovely toasty notes, and the lemon on the finish keeps it really fresh. Shared it between four of us and honestly we could have done with a second bottle. Dangerously drinkable for 12.5%.

Bought this for our 10th wedding anniversary and wow. The bubbles are so fine and creamy, and there's this amazing toasty almond thing going on that just keeps evolving in the glass. My wife and I kept passing it back and forth going 'taste it NOW' because it changed every few minutes. At £204 it's not an everyday buy obviously, but for a big occasion? Absolutely perfect.

Penelope Hart VIPsAllowed - Great champagne, hard to justify the price
8/10

Got a bottle as a gift and it's genuinely lovely — brioche, lemon, bit of almond, really elegant stuff. But I've had champagnes at half the price that get pretty close. If someone else is buying or it's a truly special occasion then go for it, but I probably wouldn't buy it for myself again at £204.
