Champagne Delavenne Dom Basle NV: Effervescent Excellence
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV DelavenneConverted my prosecco-loving friends
Opened this at a dinner party with friends who normally only drink prosecco and they were genuinely impressed. It's got this creamy richness to it but stays dry and fresh at the same time — the mineral finish stops it being too heavy. It's a blend of chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier apparently. One of my mates has already asked me where I got it from.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's 40th and wow, it was a hit. The bubbles are super fine and creamy, and there's this amazing brioche thing going on that made it feel really luxurious. Everyone at the table commented on it. At a hundred quid it's not an everyday thing but for a special occasion it absolutely justified the price.
Really nice but hard to ignore the price
Look, this is lovely champagne. Strawberry on the nose, gorgeous fine bubbles, long finish. But nearly £100 is a LOT and I've had champagnes at £50-60 that got me 90% of the way there. Would I buy it again for a special dinner party? Maybe. Would I recommend it casually? Probably not at that price point.
Proper champagne, not just fizz
Got recommended this by the guy at my local wine shop when I said I wanted something a step up from Moët. He wasn't wrong — you can really taste the difference. There's a baked apple and hazelnut thing happening that I wasn't expecting, and it finishes dry and chalky rather than sweet. Felt like I was actually tasting champagne properly for the first time.
