Woodstock Very Old Fortified
Red 14% ABV ABV WoodstockGood with food, bit pricey on its own
Saw this on a restaurant menu and ordered a glass, then tracked down a bottle. It's well balanced and the finish lingers nicely without being heavy. Only gripe is £28.50 feels a touch steep — I'd be happier around the £22-23 mark.
Nice but expected more
The wine shop guy recommended this as a good fortified option. It's pleasant enough and the finish is nice and clean, but for nearly thirty quid I was hoping for a bit more punch. Might be one for people who prefer subtler wines.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present for myself and no regrets. It's properly layered and keeps revealing new stuff as you drink it. Had it with some strong cheese and it was brilliant. The 14% ABV sneaks up on you though!
Solid fortified wine
Been getting into fortified wines lately and this Woodstock is a decent example. You can tell it's had time to develop — the nose is really inviting and it gets better the longer you sit with it. Would buy again if I spotted it on sale.
Really impressed with this one
Picked this up for a dinner party and it went down a treat. There's a lot going on — every sip you notice something different, which kept me coming back to it all evening. At £28.50 it's not cheap but honestly felt worth it for something this interesting.
