Warre's 2017 Vintage Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV Warre'sChristmas dinner hero
Bought this for Christmas dinner and it absolutely stole the show. Really rich dark fruit but not syrupy sweet like some ports I've had. At £77.50 it's not cheap but honestly felt worth it for a special occasion.
Proper after-dinner stuff
Had this at a friend's dinner party and had to track down a bottle for myself. It's got this lovely dark fruit thing going on but it's not heavy or cloying. Really clean finish too. Good with cheese, good on its own, just good.
Nice but I'm still learning
I don't know loads about port but I'm trying to get into it. This was definitely a step up from what I usually drink — you can taste that there's more going on. Bit acidic for my taste maybe? But I think that might be the point. The finish goes on forever which I liked.
Good but pricey
It's a nice port, don't get me wrong. Dark fruit, well balanced, not too sweet. But £77.50 is a lot and I'm not sure it's twice as good as a £40 bottle. Would I turn it down? No. Would I buy it again with my own money? Probably not.
Dad loved it
Got this as a birthday present for my dad who's been into port for years. He said it was one of the best he's had — really complex with loads of layers to it. We had it with stilton after dinner and it was perfect. 20% ABV sneaks up on you though!
Warre's never lets you down
Had the 2011 vintage a few years back and loved it so grabbed the 2017. Similar quality — big dark fruit nose that pulls you in, and really well structured on the palate. Not a sweet bomb like some ports, more restrained and interesting. Shared it with mates after a roast and the bottle didn't last long.
Solid vintage port
My local wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something nicer than the usual supermarket port. He wasn't wrong — there's proper depth to it and a lovely long finish. Would buy again but probably only for birthdays or anniversaries at this price.
