Vincent Bliard Sempiternel NV Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Vincent BliardBirthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present to myself because why not. Really glad I did — there's so much going on in the glass, layers of flavour that kept changing as I drank it. The finish just goes on and on. Properly special bottle.
Impressive but not cheap
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something a step up from supermarket fizz. He wasn't wrong — it's got real depth and the acidity keeps everything fresh and lively. At £70 it's not an everyday buy but it's genuinely good champagne.
Nice but hard to justify the price
Opened this for a dinner party and everyone enjoyed it. Good structure, clean finish, does the job well. But honestly at nearly seventy quid I've had champagnes at £45 that gave me a similar experience. It's lovely, just not sure it's £70 lovely.
This one makes you slow down
Not your knock-it-back prosecco replacement — this actually rewards you for paying attention. There's proper complexity in the mid-palate and the bouquet is gorgeous without being over the top. Had it with some roast chicken and it was a perfect match.
Wow okay I get it now
I'm still fairly new to spending real money on wine but a friend brought this to ours and it kind of changed what I thought champagne could taste like. So balanced and the finish is super clean. Already looking at where to buy a bottle of my own.
