Vina Albergada Caminante Tempranillo 2024
Red 14% ABV ABV AlbergadaSolid weeknight red
Picked this up from Majestic on a whim and it's become my go-to Tuesday night wine. Really nice cherry flavours and it's got enough body to feel like a proper glass of red without being heavy. At under a tenner you can't really complain.
Surprised me
Not gonna lie, I grabbed this because it was cheap and had a nice label. But it's actually got some depth to it — dark cherry, a bit of spice, and it doesn't taste thin like a lot of reds at this price do. The finish hangs around too which is a bonus.
My new house red!
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something Spanish and under a tenner. Absolutely loved it. Rich plummy fruit with some nice tannin and spice. It's 14% so it's warming but not in a bad way — perfect for a cold evening with some cheese.
Good with food
Bought a couple of bottles for a pasta night and it went down well with everyone. On its own it's a bit grippy but with a bolognese it really worked. Decent value at £9.95, would buy again for cooking nights.
Decent enough Tempranillo
It's a competent everyday red. Clean dark fruit, balanced, does what it says on the tin. I just feel like for £9.95 there are Spanish reds with a bit more character. Would happily drink it if someone poured me a glass but probably wouldn't buy it over my usual Rioja.
Fine but nothing special
Had this at a friend's house and it was alright. Bit warm and boozy for my taste — you can feel the 14% if I'm honest. The plum flavours are nice enough but I probably wouldn't seek it out myself. There are better Tempranillos at this price.
