Veuve Fourny Cuvée R Extra Brut NV Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Veuve FournySolid pick from the wine shop
The guy at my local recommended this when I said I wanted something dry but not aggressive. He was spot on — the acidity is there but it's balanced, not sharp. Clean finish too, none of that weird aftertaste you get with some cheaper fizz.
Good but bit pricey for what it is
It's nice, don't get me wrong. Well made, dry, proper Champagne taste. But at nearly £57 a bottle I think you can find similar quality for less. Would buy again on offer though.
Great with seafood
Had this with oysters and smoked salmon on our anniversary. Really clean and precise, doesn't overpower the food at all. The finish just trails off nicely. Will definitely be getting another bottle.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this for my 40th and honestly it was the highlight of the evening. Really expressive on the nose, proper fruit character that kept developing in the glass. At £56 it's not cheap but for a birthday Champagne it felt worth every penny.
Lovely stuff
Saw this on a restaurant menu and ordered a glass before committing to a bottle. Glad I did because we ended up getting two bottles for the table. Really well structured, the fruit and acidity work together perfectly. Tracked down a bottle to buy for home the next week.
Converted me to grower Champagne
A mate who's proper into his wine brought this round and it's changed how I think about Champagne. So much more character than the big brand stuff I usually buy. You can tell it's been aged properly, there's a depth to it that lingers after each sip. Worth the money if you want something a cut above.
Decent everyday Champagne
I mean it's not everyday at that price but you know what I mean. It's very dry which I like, and there's genuine complexity there if you pay attention. My partner thought it was a bit too dry though so maybe not for everyone.
This one surprised me
Picked this up on a whim at Majestic and wow. The low dosage really lets you taste what's actually going on — layers of flavour that keep changing as you drink. Opened it for a dinner party and everyone was asking what it was.
