Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2018
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Veuve ClicquotBest champagne I've ever had
My wife got me this for my 40th and honestly I didn't want to share it. There's so much going on — fruity but not sweet, crisp but really rich at the same time. The taste just lingers forever. I'm not usually a champagne person but this converted me.
Opened this too early and it was STILL amazing
Was meant to save this for New Year's but we cracked it on a random Tuesday and zero regrets. So smooth, really layered — like every sip you notice something different. At 12.5% it's dangerously easy to drink for how complex it is. Would absolutely buy again.
Nice but I expected more at this price
Got this as a gift and while it's definitely a quality champagne, I'm not sure I'd spend £168 on it myself. It's well balanced and the finish is long, but it didn't blow me away the way I hoped it would. Maybe I need to try it again with food.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our 10th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. The bubbles are so fine and elegant, and it's got this amazing depth that kept me going back for more. At £168 it's not an everyday bottle but for a big occasion? Absolutely worth it.
Really good but is it £168 good?
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it's genuinely lovely. Clean, precise, loads of complexity if you pay attention. But I've had champagnes at half the price that got pretty close. You're paying a lot for the Veuve Clicquot name here.
Lovely stuff, brought it to Christmas dinner
Picked this up from our local wine shop on the guy's recommendation. Really expressive on the nose, you can smell it as soon as you pour. Everyone at the table loved it. The 2018 vintage is apparently a warm year and you can kind of tell — it's generous and ripe.
La Grande Dame lives up to the hype
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and decided to treat myself. So much better than regular Veuve — it's got this incredible structure and the finish goes on and on. Properly serious champagne that still manages to be really enjoyable and not stuffy.
This is what champagne should taste like
I've been slowly working my way through nicer champagnes and La Grande Dame 2018 is the best I've tried so far. The balance between the fruit and the acidity is just perfect. Clean finish that stays with you. Treated myself after a promotion and it felt right.
