Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos 2016 / Classic Winery
Dessert 14% ABV ABV Classic WinerySolid dessert wine, not mind-blowing
Had this at a restaurant and liked it enough to track down a bottle. It's well made — good depth, nice long finish, and it smells amazing. Just not sure it's twice the price better than other sweet wines I've had. Would pair it with blue cheese or just sip it on its own.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present to myself and wow, glad I did. It's properly sweet but not in a cloying way — there's this acidity running through it that keeps everything balanced. Kept going back for more sips because the finish just lingers so nicely. At £51 it's a splurge but honestly worth it for a special occasion.
New to sweet wines and impressed
I normally stick to reds but saw this on a menu and thought why not. Really glad I tried it. It's sweet but not like syrup — there's loads going on and each sip tastes a bit different as it opens up. The finish keeps pulling you back in. Might be my new thing for after dinner.
This is what Tokaji should taste like
I've been getting into Hungarian wines lately and this 5 Puttonyos is the real deal. The aromas hit you straight away, no swirling needed. Gorgeous balance between the sweetness and a fresh backbone that keeps it interesting. Already ordered another bottle.
Perfect end to a dinner party
Brought this out after the main course at a dinner party and it was a hit. Everyone kept saying how much was going on in the glass — sweet fruit, then this clean acidity that stops it being heavy. You'd never guess it's 14% either, goes down dangerously easy.
Nice but steep price tag
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something for after dinner. It's good — really aromatic when you pour it and the flavours are layered and interesting. But £51 is a lot for a dessert wine I'm going to share with two people over cheese. I'd buy it again on sale.
