Thierry Richoux Irancy 2019
Red 14% ABV ABV Richoux IrancyDecent midweek upgrade
Normally I'm a £10-15 bottle person but fancied treating myself. It's good — dark berry flavours, dry finish, no rough edges. The 14% ABV does sneak up on you though. Probably better saved for a weekend honestly.
Nice but bit pricey for what it is
It's a solid red, don't get me wrong. Dark fruit, earthy, clean finish. But £35.75 for an Irancy? I've had Burgundy at this price point that gave me more excitement. Would happily drink it again if someone else was buying.
Reliable and easy to enjoy
Second time buying this. It's just really well balanced — enough fruit to be interesting, enough acidity that it doesn't feel like jam. The mineral thing on the finish is a nice touch. Had it with a beef stew and it was spot on.
Birthday treat that delivered
My partner got me this for my birthday and I'm glad she did. Really expressive nose — you get the dark cherry straight away without having to swirl it around for ages. Smooth finish too. We polished off the bottle way too quickly.
Great with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder
Made a lamb shoulder for a dinner party and opened this alongside it. The savoury, almost meaty thing going on in this wine was perfect with the food. Good acidity too so it didn't feel heavy even though it's 14%. Friends were impressed.
This is what got me into Burgundy
Saw this on a restaurant menu and took a chance on it. Genuinely complex stuff — fruity upfront but then there's this earthy, stony quality underneath that keeps you coming back to the glass. I've since gone down a Burgundy rabbit hole and it's all this wine's fault.
Serious Burgundy for not-serious money
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. Dark cherry and something almost smoky — I'm not great at describing wine but this one had layers. At £35 it's not cheap but honestly it drinks like something pricier. Will definitely buy again.
