Testalonga El Bandito Cortez Chenin Blanc 2023
White 12% ABV ABV TestalongaNice but not cheap
Got this for a dinner party and it went down well with everyone, even my mate who usually only drinks beer. Clean and crisp with some nice layers to it if you actually pay attention. At thirty quid though I'd probably save it for occasions rather than making it a regular thing.
Really impressed with this one
Picked this up from my local wine shop after the guy behind the counter wouldn't stop going on about it. He was right though — it's got this lovely freshness to it and the acidity keeps things really lively. Light at 12% so I ended up having a couple of glasses on a Tuesday night without feeling rough the next day. Would definitely buy again.
Good not great
Saw Testalonga recommended online so thought I'd give this a go. It's a solid Chenin Blanc — well balanced, decent acidity, nothing offensive about it at all. But for nearly £30 I was expecting something that'd blow my socks off and it didn't quite get there. I've had cheaper whites that excited me more.
Birthday bottle that delivered
My partner got me this for my birthday and I'm so glad she did. Really expressive on the nose — you can smell it properly before you even take a sip. The finish is the best part, it just lingers in this really pleasant way that makes you want to keep drinking. Went brilliantly with the roast chicken we had.
