Taylor's 40 Year Old Tawny Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV Taylor'sIncredible but hard to justify the price
Tried this at a tasting event and it's genuinely lovely. Really complex with spice and dried fruit, and it stays fresh even though it's quite sweet. But at nearly £200 a bottle I can't see myself buying one for a regular Tuesday night. Special occasion only for sure.
Worth every single penny
Got this as a retirement gift for my dad and we cracked it open at his party. Honestly blown away — the toffee and dried fruit flavours just keep coming and it's so smooth for 20% ABV. Yes it's £195 but for a 40 year old port that tastes this good, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
Christmas day winner
Bought this for Christmas dinner and it was the star of the evening. Poured it after dessert and everyone went quiet for a second — that's how you know it's good. The finish just lingers forever. My brother-in-law who "doesn't like port" had three glasses.
Finally tried a proper aged tawny
The guy at my local wine shop talked me into splashing out on this and I'm glad he did. I've only ever had basic ruby port before and this is a completely different thing. All toffee and woody spice, not too sweet, and it keeps changing as it sits in the glass. I nursed one glass for about an hour and loved every sip.
