Taylor's 30 Year Old Tawny Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV Taylor'sBest port I've ever had
My father-in-law opened this after dinner and I was completely blown away. So smooth and warming without any burn despite being 20%. The finish just lingers forever in the best way. I've had plenty of 10 and 20 year tawnies but this is a different league entirely.
Absolutely stunning
I'm relatively new to port but this has completely changed my understanding of what it can be. There's no alcohol burn at all despite 20% ABV — just this gentle warmth. The flavour is so concentrated and layered, nothing like the cheap port I'd had before. Worth saving up for.
Christmas present to myself
Bought this as a treat for myself over Christmas and wow. The sweetness is perfectly balanced — not cloying at all, just rich and deep with dried fruit flavours that keep going. At £114 it's not cheap but for a 30 year old port it's honestly reasonable. Will be buying again next December.
Very nice but I expected more
Don't get me wrong this is a good port — smooth, well balanced, no rough edges. But for £114 I was expecting to be absolutely floored and I wasn't quite. The 10 year Taylor's at a third of the price is honestly nearly as enjoyable to me on a casual evening. Maybe my palate isn't sophisticated enough to appreciate the difference fully.
Solid port, maybe overhyped?
The guy at the wine shop talked me into this over the 20 year and it IS better, but I'm not sure it's twice-the-price better. That said, it's beautifully balanced and the dried fruit and nutty flavours are gorgeous. No harshness at all. I'd rate it highly but probably stick with the 20 year for everyday.
Really lovely but hard to justify the price
Got a glass of this at a wine bar and it was genuinely beautiful — layers of flavour that just keep revealing themselves. But at £114 a bottle I'm not sure I'd buy one for home when you can get a solid 20 year tawny for half that. Special occasion bottle for sure.
Perfect after dinner sipper
Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately went and ordered a bottle. It's got this amazing long finish that just slowly fades and makes you want another sip. Really elegant stuff. Goes brilliantly with dark chocolate if you're wondering.
Anniversary dinner hit
Picked this up for our wedding anniversary and served it with a cheese board. It's incredibly smooth and the complexity is unreal — every sip tastes slightly different. My wife doesn't usually go for port but she loved this one. The acidity cuts through the sweetness perfectly.
