Taittinger Folies de la Marquetterie Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV TaittingerSolid choice for a dinner party
Brought this to a friend's dinner party and everyone was impressed. It's got great balance — not too sharp, not too sweet, just really well put together. The finish is clean and makes you want another glass immediately. Would definitely buy again for a special occasion.
This is the one
Had this at a restaurant last year and have been hunting for it ever since. There's a confidence to it that cheaper champagnes just don't have. Really generous fruit but it never feels heavy or over the top. Absolutely loved it.
Nice but bit steep
The wine shop guy recommended this over the regular Taittinger and yeah it's good, definitely more interesting and complex. But at £65.50 I'm not sure it's twice as good as a decent £30 fizz. That said, the depth of flavour is genuinely impressive and it went down very easily at 12.5%.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this for my 40th and wow, it really is a step up from the usual stuff. So expressive when you pour it — you can smell it across the table. Every sip had something different going on, layers of flavour that kept me coming back. At £65 it's not an everyday buy but for a milestone it felt worth every penny.
Great with Sunday roast actually
Picked this up for our anniversary and ended up having it with a roast chicken which sounds wrong but it worked brilliantly. Enough structure to stand up to the food and the acidity cuts right through. Lingering finish that keeps you sipping. Will be getting another bottle for Christmas.
