Stone's Green Ginger Wine
Red 14% ABV ABV Stone'sNot really my thing
My nan used to drink this so I bought a bottle out of nostalgia. It's very gingery which I expected, but the sweetness was a bit much for me. Decent enough if you like that sort of thing but I probably won't buy it again.
Really warming stuff
Picked this up on a whim from the supermarket and was pleasantly surprised. The ginger really comes through and it's got a nice spicy kick that builds as you drink it. For £7.50 you can't really complain — great on a cold evening with some cheese.
Good for what it is
Saw this on the shelf and thought why not. The ginger flavour is strong and honest — you know exactly what you're getting. There's some dried fruit in there too which I wasn't expecting. It's not going to blow your mind but it's a solid buy at this price.
Bit too sweet for me
A friend brought this round for a dinner party. The ginger comes through strong which is fine, but I found it quite sweet and couldn't really drink more than one glass. The acidity helps a bit but overall it felt more like a dessert drink than something I'd pour with food.
Perfect after dinner drink
We had this after a Sunday roast and it went down really well. Lovely warm ginger spice and the finish lingers nicely without being overpowering. My wife loved it too and she's normally fussy about sweeter wines. Will definitely keep a bottle in the cupboard.
