Sergio Arcuri Piu Vite Ciro Reserva 2018
Red 14% ABV ABV Sergio ArcuriNice but steep price
Got this as a birthday present and it's a solid wine, don't get me wrong. Good structure, nice long finish. But at £40 I'd probably not grab it myself when there are great reds out there for £20-25. If someone else is buying though, happy days.
Great find from Calabria
Saw this on a restaurant menu and liked it so much I tracked down a bottle to have at home. Really expressive on the nose, and I love how the flavours sort of reveal themselves slowly rather than all at once. It's one of those wines that makes you want to keep going back for another sip.
Perfect with a slow-cooked ragu
Made a big lamb ragu on Sunday and opened this alongside it. Brilliant pairing — the acidity cuts right through the richness. You can tell it's been aged properly, there's real complexity in the glass. At 14% it's got some weight to it but doesn't feel boozy at all.
Decent, needed some time to open up
Opened this for a dinner party and honestly it was a bit closed off at first. After about 45 minutes it really came together though — nice fruit, good finish, proper grown-up wine. My mate who knows more about wine than me said it was excellent so maybe I just need to be more patient with these things.
Seriously impressed
Picked this up from a local wine shop on the guy's recommendation and wow. It's got this really lovely depth to it — not one of those wines that hits you over the head, more like it keeps unfolding as you drink. The acidity keeps it fresh even though it's a bigger red. Would absolutely buy again.
