Sepp Moser Fundamental Gruner Veltliner 2021
Red 14% ABV ABV Sepp MoserGood but not mind-blowing
Decent Grüner Veltliner. Well balanced and easy to drink, nothing weird or off-putting about it. I liked the fruit but at 14% it's got a bit more kick than I expected. Fair enough for the price I suppose.
Nice birthday treat
Got this as a birthday present from a friend who knows I'm getting into wine. It's really clean tasting with a finish that sort of lingers nicely. I'm still learning what I like but this felt like proper quality. Goes great with a roast chicken dinner.
Reliable and well made
Sepp Moser consistently makes good stuff and this is no exception. Nicely structured, proper acidity, and the fruit doesn't overpower anything. The 14% ABV does show a bit of ripeness but it stays in control. Would happily order this off a restaurant list.
Really solid Austrian white
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. Really aromatic straight out of the bottle — you can smell it as soon as you pour. Great acidity, kept me coming back for more. At £28 it's not cheap but I'd buy it again for a nice meal.
Bit pricey for what it is
Bought this for a dinner party and it went down fine, no complaints from anyone. But honestly for nearly £30 I was expecting something more special. It's a nice clean wine and the finish is pleasant enough, just not sure I'd pay that again when there are solid GVs for half the price.
Perfect with fish tacos
This was so good with food! We had it with grilled fish and it was spot on — the acidity cuts right through. Smells amazing too, really fresh and inviting. My wife doesn't usually go for Austrian wines but she loved this one.
Absolutely loved this bottle
Saw this on a menu at a wine bar and had to track down a bottle for home. So expressive on the nose, you just know it's going to be good before you even taste it. There's genuine complexity here that builds as you drink it. One of the best Grüner Veltliners I've had this year.
