Sandeman 10 Year Old Tawny Port / Glass Set
Fortified 20% ABV ABV SandemanGreat gift set
Picked this up for a dinner party as a host gift and it went down really well. We cracked it open after dessert and everyone kept going back for more. Lovely smooth finish on it. Not sure I'd pay £33.50 just for the port on its own but the glass set makes it worth it.
Absolutely love tawny port now
I'm fairly new to port — always thought it was something your nan drinks at Christmas. This completely changed my mind. The peach and fig flavours are gorgeous and it's so smooth for 20% ABV. Dangerous stuff honestly, went through the bottle way too fast.
Solid port for the price
Had this after dinner with some stilton and it was a great match. You get that dried fruit and orange peel coming through nicely. Not the most complex port I've had but at this price point it's hard to complain.
Perfect after-dinner sipper
The guy at Majestic recommended this when I said I wanted something for after Sunday roasts. He was spot on — it's got this gorgeous warmth to it without any harsh burn. The dried apricot and nutty flavours are really moreish. Will definitely be buying again.
Christmas cracker
Bought this as a gift set for my dad at Christmas and ended up drinking most of it myself. The caramel and almond thing going on is lovely, really smooth and warming. Glass set is a nice touch too — proper present for £33.50.
Reliable Sandeman
Had this on a restaurant menu and liked it enough to grab a bottle from the shops. It's a well-made tawny — you can taste the caramel and toasted almond, good bit of spice building up as you sip. Nothing groundbreaking but Sandeman know what they're doing with port. Decent value with the glasses included.
Nice but not amazing
It's fine. Smooth, easy to drink, tastes like butterscotch and figs which is pleasant enough. But I've had supermarket own-brand tawnies that weren't far off this for half the price. The glasses are decent quality though so maybe that justifies it.
